Six things that shape a Namibia order.
Facts from the Namibia Revenue Agency’s customs notices and procedures manual; your clearing agent confirms them for the actual shipment.
From 1 April 2026 every NamRA customs declaration must carry a valid Trader Identification Number. Declarations without one are rejected automatically and the goods are not processed or released.
NamRA TIN notice, checked 22 October 2026NamRA’s procedures require the importer to make entry within seven days of importation, or within the further time the Commissioner allows. Goods can be entered before they arrive, once they are loaded.
NamRA importation guidelines, checked 22 October 2026By law a true, correct and sufficient commercial invoice from the supplier must accompany the declaration. It has to show the seller, the purchaser and a full description of the goods.
NamRA importation guidelines, checked 22 October 2026An invoice that is not in English needs a translation supplied by the importer, and a foreign-currency invoice needs a worksheet converting the amounts to Namibia dollars.
NamRA importation guidelines, checked 22 October 2026NamRA assembles the declaration with the commercial invoices, the transport document, freight and insurance statements, the packing list and any licence or permit. We prepare the same set in the same order.
NamRA importation guidelines, checked 22 October 2026Sea freight normally arrives at Walvis Bay. The road leg to Windhoek, Swakopmund or a lodge is a separate line against a named address.

Importer readiness
Register the importer and fix the invoice.
Two things stop a Namibian declaration early: a missing TIN and an invoice that does not meet NamRA’s content rules.
Prepare these five things
- Importer registered with NamRA and holding a valid TIN
- Licensed clearing agent appointed, with the client TIN linked in ASYCUDAWorld
- Commercial invoice with seller, purchaser and a full description of each piece, in English
- Worksheet converting foreign currency to Namibia dollars
- Delivery address, vehicle access and receiving contact
Checked 21 October 2026. The procedures manual is a draft revision; duty, VAT and any permits are confirmed by your agent for the actual goods.

FoshanNamibia questions
Before you send the brief.
Short answers with the next document to read. Tax and clearance specifics are confirmed by your clearing professional.
Do I need a TIN to import?
Yes. From 1 April 2026 every NamRA customs declaration must carry a valid Trader Identification Number, and a declaration without one is rejected automatically. New traders apply for a TIN with NamRA first.
What must the invoice show?
NamRA requires a true, correct and sufficient commercial invoice from the supplier, naming the seller and the purchaser and giving a full description of the goods. We prepare it to that standard.
Does the invoice have to be in English?
An invoice that is not in English needs a translation from the importer, and a foreign-currency invoice needs a worksheet converting the amounts to Namibia dollars. We issue English documents with the conversion worksheet attached.
How soon must the goods be declared?
NamRA’s procedures require entry within seven days of importation, or within the further time the Commissioner allows. Goods can be entered before arrival once they are loaded, so your agent can prepare the declaration during the voyage.
Can I buy remotely?
Yes. Supplier comparisons, photo and video reviews, samples and written approvals all work from a clear brief. A Foshan visit can be planned around the same room schedule if you travel.
What should I send first?
A floor plan or furniture list, the delivery address in Namibia, your product budget and the date the property can receive goods. Add the importer’s TIN and the agent’s contact if you have them.
