Six things that shape a Kenya order.
Facts from the KEBS pre-export programme; your clearing agent and the appointed contractor confirm them for the actual goods.
Kenya runs a Pre-Export Verification of Conformity programme. For products subject to it, a KEBS-appointed contractor issues a Certificate of Conformity or Route before the goods ship.
KEBS PVoC overview, checked 21 October 2026The appointed contractors include China-based inspection companies. For sea freight the physical inspection is carried out within four working days of a complete request for certification, and the certificate within two working days of the final documents.
KEBS PVoC overview, checked 21 October 2026The draft certificate must be confirmed within 48 hours or it is issued as is, and KEBS allows no amendments afterwards. Descriptions, quantities and values have to match the goods before that point.
KEBS PVoC overview, checked 21 October 2026Sea freight normally arrives at Mombasa. The inland leg to Nairobi, unloading and assembly are quoted as separate lines against a named address.

FoshanKenya questions
Before you send the brief.
Short answers with the next document to read. Tax and clearance specifics are confirmed by your clearing professional.
When should I check the KEBS requirements?
Before ordering and before shipping. Share the actual product list with your clearing agent and the relevant conformity contractor so the checks and documentation can be planned into production and packing.
Can the goods ship before the certificate is issued?
Products subject to the programme need their certificate before they ship, so we plan production and packing for the inspection and the certificate to come first. Your agent and the contractor confirm what applies to your item list.
Does the KEBS certificate replace your quality report?
No. The certificate addresses regulatory conformity; our inspection report covers the agreed furniture quality scope. Each has its own place in the order.
Can furniture from different factories be consolidated?
Yes. We coordinate receiving and packing from multiple suppliers. Each line still needs an accurate description and its applicable documentation; confirm the compliance arrangements for the combined shipment.
Can you help a Nairobi designer compare approved alternatives?
Send the specification and identify which details may change, such as dimensions, fabric or finish. We organise supplier comparisons so you can approve any substitution before purchasing.
What should I send for a Kenya project?
Your room plan or furniture schedule, the destination address, target budget and required date. If your clearing agent has already identified conformity requirements, attach that written guidance.
