02 · Materials
Outdoor furniture is a system: frame, weave or slat, top, foam and fabric. Each layer has one material that performs and several that only look like it.

Ask for ASTM B117 salt-spray report (500–1,000 h), wall thickness on the drawing, welded and ground joints, chromate-free pretreatment.UV-stabilised HDPE holds colour and flex for 10–15 years; PVC or LDPE cracks in two or three seasons. Four-piece lounge set USD 500–1,400 ex-works.
Ask for the mill's material certificate, strand profile and colour code; do a flex or burn test on an offcut at the sample stage.UV-stable polyolefin rope, replaceable; tension and hidden knots are the quality markers. Rope lounge set USD 600–1,800; rope loungers USD 160–280 in quantity.
Ask for rope diameter and colour from stock, a 20 kg seat-sag test on the sample, knot ends hidden inside the frame.Grade-A kiln-dried teak greys gracefully and lasts decades; HPL and sintered-stone tops resist heat and stains on the same aluminium base. Teak lounger USD 280–550.
Ask for moisture content 10–12%, FSC where required, brass or 316 stainless fixings, and a jig-cut top so shape changes do not cost a mould.
Solution-dyed acrylic carries the pigment inside the fibre and is warranted 5–10 years against fading; printed polyester fades in one summer. Chinese mills make solution-dyed acrylic and olefin at lower cost than Western brands — ask for the colourfastness and UV reports and keep a labelled cutting as the control sample.
Quick-dry reticulated foam lets rain pass through and dries in hours; indoor foam in an outdoor cover holds water and smells within a season. Specify density and thickness, and cut one cushion open at inspection.
03 · Grades
Hospitality grade costs 20–40% more than a residential piece of the same design. The difference is invisible in a photograph and obvious after one season on a pool deck.

Hotel buyers specify by test result rather than by appearance: heavier aluminium sections, longer salt-spray hours, contract fabrics and foams, stainless hardware and stackable forms. Write the numbers into the order and ask for the reports.
04 · Bulk orders
Pick a tier, count the containers, work back from the opening date. A 250-piece stackable aluminium order is one 40 ft high-cube, USD 95–160 per piece ex-works and 35–50 days in production.
Welded aluminium frame, Textilene or Batyline-type sling, stacks 5–6 high, wheels optional. Specify 500 h salt spray inland, 1,000 h on the beach or pool, EN 581 contract grade. What most beach clubs run.
Heavier aluminium section, UV-stabilised weave, quick-dry foam under a solution-dyed acrylic cover, adjustable back and wheels. The hotel-pool standard. Does not stack: 250 pieces need two containers.
Grade-A kiln-dried teak or an aluminium-and-rope designer frame, contract cushions, brass or 316 stainless hardware, cover abrasion ≥30,000 Martindale. For resort and villa decks where the lounger is part of the design.
Order 10–15% spare slings or covers with the first shipment. Re-ordering twenty covers a year later costs more in freight than the covers.

Light but bulky: volume decides the freight bill. Knock-down frames, stackable chairs and nested tables cut it by 30–50%.
Billed per m³ (≈ USD 30/m³ base to Europe plus 25–40% handling). More handling at both ends, so cushions in sealed polybags and stone tops crated on edge.

FAQ
Genuine HDPE rattan with UV stabiliser blended into the material holds its colour and flexibility for 10–15 years outdoors; it is the standard weave in Foshan and Linhai factories. Cracking comes from PVC or low-grade LDPE wicker, which is cheaper and looks identical when new. Ask for the weave supplier's material certificate, flex a sample strand hard in cold conditions, and write 'HDPE, UV-stabilised' on the specification.
ASTM B117 defines the test method but not the duration, so the buyer sets it. Five hundred hours is a common minimum for residential sets, and 1,000 hours is the usual hospitality and coastal specification. Ask for the coating system's test report at that duration, a stated film thickness on the drawing and a chromate-free pretreatment step before powder coating, then have thickness measured at inspection.
Yes, through Lecong showroom stock or a small factory order above the collection MOQ, typically 10–30 sets for Foshan factories. A villa terrace of one dining set, one lounge set and a few loungers fits in 8–15 m³, shipped as less-than-container-load or combined with indoor furniture in a 20 ft container. Consolidating with other purchases is what makes a single-home order economic.
Aluminium for volume pieces such as loungers and stacking chairs, because it is light, stackable and maintenance-free with a proper coating; teak for dining tables and feature pieces where the material is the design. Teak weathers to silver-grey without losing strength and needs no oiling, but it is heavy and three to four times the price. Many resorts combine teak tops with aluminium frames.
Quick-dry foam is reticulated open-cell polyurethane whose cells are opened so water passes straight through and air dries it in hours; indoor foam holds water and breeds mould. It is necessary for any cushion that stays outside, especially in hospitality, and should be paired with a water-permeable ticking and a solution-dyed cover. Cut one sample cushion open at inspection to confirm it.
From deposit to delivery, plan three to four months outside peak season and four to five months for orders placed February to May. Production runs 30–60 days for standard collections and 60–75 days in the spring peak, followed by three to six weeks of sea freight and one to two weeks of clearance. Custom collections add four to six weeks for a first article.
Requirements vary by market. The EU expects safety and strength to EN 581 for contract use, the US has no federal furniture strength rule but hotel brands and specifiers ask for test reports, and solid-wood pieces or wooden packaging may need fumigation or ISPM 15 treatment. Fabrics for hospitality often need flammability documentation. Confirm with your customs broker and, for hotels, the brand's design standard.
Foshan's Shunde suppliers sell adaptable collections and mixed containers with design support, and their Lecong showrooms are open year-round, which suits hotels, designers and premium importers. Linhai's Taizhou factories run standard models at volume for retail chains, with lower unit prices, higher MOQs and full-container orders. Many importers use Foshan for the hospitality or premium range and Linhai for the mass-market range.

About 250–330 stackable aluminium sling loungers, which pack to 0.20–0.28 m³ each when stacked five or six high, fit in one 40 ft high-cube container (68–76 m³ usable). Cushioned rattan or rope loungers do not stack and take 0.40–0.60 m³ each, so 250 of them need two containers. Under about 15 m³ — roughly 50–60 stackable loungers — the order ships LCL in a shared container.
