China Furniture Fairs: Dates, Cities and How to Plan a Sourcing Trip

China's furniture fair calendar has two peaks. In March, CIFF Guangzhou, the Dongguan 3F fair, Shenzhen Creative Week, the Longjiang fairs and interzum guangzhou run within a fortnight of each other in the Pearl River Delta; in September and October, CIFF Shanghai and the Canton Fair's home-products phase follow. The next confirmed editions are Canton Fair Phase 2 on 23–27 October 2026, Shenzhen Creative Week on 15–17 March 2027 and CIFF Guangzhou on 18–21 and 28–31 March 2027. This page lists verified next dates, a typical annual calendar, current visa rules and how to combine a fair with Foshan's year-round showrooms.

At a glance

  1. 01

CIFF Guangzhou’s 59th edition runs 18–21 March 2027 (home) and 28–31 March 2027 (office, contract, interzum) at the Canton Fair Complex.

  2. 02

Canton Fair Phase 2, which includes furniture, runs 23–27 October 2026 in Guangzhou; the spring phase is typically 23–27 April.

  3. 03

March is the peak: Shenzhen, Dongguan, Longjiang and Guangzhou fairs fall within two weeks and 40–90 minutes of each other.

  4. 04

Citizens of 50 countries can enter China visa-free for 30 days until 31 December 2026; US citizens need a visa or transit rule.

  5. 05

Foshan showrooms are open year-round, so a fair day plus a Foshan day usually produces more confirmed orders than a fair-only trip.

01

Which China furniture fairs matter to an overseas buyer?

Ask the team about this

Five fairs cover almost everything an overseas furniture buyer needs: CIFF Guangzhou for breadth in March, CIFF Shanghai for design-led ranges in September, the Canton Fair’s second phase for volume export goods in April and October, the Dongguan 3F fair for export-grade home and hospitality factories, and Shenzhen Creative Week for design and custom-home brands. The Longjiang fairs in Foshan add the sofa and materials cluster at factory level. Dates below were checked against each organiser’s site on 18 September 2026 and are updated yearly; where an edition is not yet announced, the typical timing is given.

For a first visit, CIFF Guangzhou is the default: two phases in one venue 40–60 minutes from Foshan, home furniture first and office and contract ten days later. Its organiser also runs the September Shanghai edition. The Canton Fair is not a furniture fair as such, but its second phase has a large furniture section within a general export show and suits importers who buy furniture alongside ceramics, housewares or garden products. How these fairs sit within China’s clusters and supplier types is explained in the China furniture industry overview.

02

Which adjacent fairs are worth adding to a furniture trip?

Ask the team about this

Four neighbouring fairs matter to furniture buyers because they cover what goes with the furniture: tiles and stone, lighting, hotel operating equipment, and the materials and machinery behind the pieces. All four are in Guangdong or fall in the same weeks as a furniture fair.

FairCity and venueNext datesWhy it matters to a furniture buyer

Adjacent fairs and their next editions

A hotel project team, for example, can cover guestroom and lobby furniture at CIFF Phase 2 or the Dongguan 3F fair, tiles and stone at CeramBath or in Foshan’s Nanzhuang showrooms, and lighting at Guzhen, all within one trip. The specification and model-room sequence for that kind of order is set out in the hotel furniture sourcing guide.

03

What does the annual furniture fair calendar look like?

Ask the team about this

The calendar repeats each year with only small shifts in dates, so you can plan a year ahead and confirm exact dates when organisers publish them, usually 6–9 months out. Two planning constraints sit alongside the fairs: the Chinese New Year shutdown, which falls on 6 February in 2027 and closes factories for roughly three weeks, and the National Day holiday on 1–7 October, one week before the Canton Fair opens.

MonthFairs and eventsPlanning note
JanuaryNone of noteFactories finish pre-holiday production; new orders slip to March
FebruaryNone; Chinese New Year (6 February 2027)Three-week shutdown; showrooms reopen by mid-month
MarchShenzhen Creative Week (mid-month); Dongguan 3F (mid-month); Longjiang fairs (mid-month); CIFF Guangzhou Phase 1 (third week) and Phase 2 with interzum (last week); HOTELEX Shanghai (end of month)Peak month; book hotels in Guangzhou and Foshan early
AprilCanton Fair Phase 2 (typically 23–27 April); CeramBath spring editionVolume export buying; Foshan showrooms quiet and easy to work

November–DecemberNone of noteLast production slots before the holiday; freight rates rise
Typical China furniture fair calendar, month by month

The practical consequence is that a March trip covers the most ground, an October trip suits importers who buy mixed export goods, and any month works if your main aim is to see stock and place orders in Foshan’s showrooms. The Foshan furniture markets guide explains the districts and malls that stay open when the fair halls are empty.

04

Fair or showroom district: which gets your order placed?

Ask the team about this

Fairs are better for discovering export factories and reading trends; showroom districts are better for placing orders, because you can see stock, sit on it, get a firm price and visit the factory the same day. Foshan’s Lecong malls hold more display area than any fair and are open every day, which is why experienced buyers treat the fair as a scouting day and Foshan as the buying days.

QuestionTrade fairFoshan showroom district

Trade fair versus Foshan showroom district

A Foshan showroom in a quiet month: no queue, stock on the floor, and the factory a short drive away.

The two are not rivals. A fair tells you which factories exist and what they launch this season; the showroom district tells you what you can actually buy, at what price, and how it is built. The 55-venue Foshan showroom directory lists what each mall and factory showroom carries so you can shortlist before you fly.

05

How do you prepare: visa, registration, badge and tools?

Ask the team about this

Check your visa position first, pre-register with each organiser second, and pack a specification file third. China’s entry rules for business visitors are more open than they were, but they differ sharply by passport, and the current visa-free scheme has a published end date.

Under the unilateral visa-free policy in force at the time of writing, citizens of 50 countries may enter China without a visa for up to 30 days for business, tourism, family visits, exchanges or transit. The list includes most European Union states, the United Kingdom and Canada (both added on 17 February 2026), Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Saudi Arabia and others. The policy is confirmed only until 31 December 2026; an extension is expected to be reviewed but had not been announced as of September 2026. Citizens of the United States and India are not on the list. They can use the 240-hour visa-free transit policy, which covers 55 countries at 65 ports including Guangzhou and permits movement within Guangdong, provided they hold an onward ticket to a third country or region and leave within 240 hours, or apply for an M (business) visa. Separate mutual exemptions cover Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Brunei. Confirm the rules for your passport with the Chinese embassy or the National Immigration Administration before booking.

  • Pre-register online with each organiser as a trade visitor, using your passport details and company information; collect your badge on site with your passport. Several fairs waive fees for pre-registered overseas buyers and charge walk-ins.
  • Install WeChat before you fly and set up WeChat Pay or Alipay with a foreign Visa or Mastercard; every supplier follow-up happens on WeChat.
  • Bring 100 business cards; exhibitors still exchange them and scan your WeChat QR code alongside.
  • Carry a specification file on your phone: reference photos, dimensions, quantities, target prices, fabric and finish preferences, and your delivery address for freight estimates.
  • Book hotels near the venue or in Foshan’s Chancheng district 6–8 weeks ahead for March; Pazhou hotels sell out during CIFF and the Canton Fair.
  • Bring a portable power bank, comfortable shoes and a printed hall plan; the Canton Fair Complex alone exceeds 1.5 million m² of exhibition space across its phases.

If you intend to buy in volume, prepare your negotiating position before the fair: know your landed cost target, your realistic order quantity and how you will consolidate several suppliers into one container. The price tiers and mixed-container mechanics are covered in the China furniture wholesale guide.

06

How do you work a fair day efficiently?

Ask the team about this

Plan the halls by category the night before, walk fast in the morning, sit down with the ten stands that matter in the afternoon, and write up every contact the same evening. A large Chinese fair has 2,000–4,000 exhibitors; the buyers who leave with a usable shortlist are the ones who decide in advance what they are not going to look at.

  1. Download the exhibitor list and hall plan, mark 25–40 target stands by category and rank them; CIFF and the Canton Fair both publish searchable lists.
  2. Arrive at opening time and do a fast first pass of your marked halls, photographing stand numbers with the products, without stopping to negotiate.
  3. Shortlist 8–12 stands for detailed conversations after lunch. Ask each: are you the factory or a trading company, where is the factory, what is the MOQ per model, what are the FOB price and lead time at that quantity, which certificates do you hold.
  4. Photograph the product label, the stand number and the sales manager’s card together, and add a WeChat contact immediately.
  5. Collect fabric and finish swatches and a printed catalogue with prices where offered; ask for the digital catalogue by WeChat.
  6. Write up notes each evening while stands are fresh: supplier, product, price, MOQ, lead time, impression, next step. Fair follow-ups fade within a week without this.
Dining room with a dark stone table, patterned upholstered chairs and a pendant light
A dining set as shown on a stand or in a showroom; ask about frame, top material, chair MOQ and FOB price at your quantity.

Two realities help set expectations. Fair pricing is usually quoted FOB for container quantities and will move 10–25% once real quantities and specifications are fixed. And a stand does not prove a factory: a smart booth can belong to a trading company, and a plain one to a 40,000 m² plant. Verification comes afterwards.

07

How do you combine a fair with a Foshan visit?

Ask the team about this

Spend one or two days at the fair in Guangzhou, Shenzhen or Dongguan, then two or three days in Foshan’s showrooms and factories, using the fair shortlist to decide which Foshan suppliers to see. Guangzhou’s Canton Fair Complex is 40–60 minutes by car from Lecong and Chancheng; Dongguan’s GDE venue in Houjie is 1–1.5 hours; Shenzhen is about two hours by high-speed rail and car.

A March itinerary that works: day one, CIFF Phase 1 at Pazhou for home furniture; day two, Longjiang fairs and factory showrooms in Foshan; day three, Lecong malls including the Louvre furniture centre; day four, factories for the shortlisted pieces plus one specialist area such as Nanzhuang tiles or Luocun lighting. For office and hospitality buyers, shift the trip ten days to catch CIFF Phase 2, and swap the Lecong day for the hospitality venues in Lecong and Longjiang. The town-by-town layout that makes such a route possible is on the Foshan districts page.

Two local sourcing staff walking a bright furniture showroom with an older Western client
Fair contacts turn into orders in the showroom and the factory; a planned route through Foshan does that in two days.

Base yourself in Foshan rather than Guangzhou if the fair is one or two days and the buying is three. Chancheng hotels are cheaper than Pazhou during fair weeks, and the reverse commute to the fair is quick. If you need a car and a bilingual guide, a local sourcing team can pre-book showroom and factory appointments along a single route, arrange airport pickup and take notes and supplier records; the guided Foshan buying visit is structured for exactly this, at USD 99 or USD 199 a day depending on group size.

08

What do you do after the fair?

Ask the team about this

Verify the shortlisted suppliers, order samples, and only then negotiate quantities and place deposits. The fair gives you contacts; the four to eight weeks that follow decide whether they become reliable suppliers or expensive lessons.

Verification starts with the business licence and its unified social credit code, which you check against the national enterprise registry, followed by confirming that the bank account name matches the licensed company and that the factory address exists and can be visited. Then request samples of the two or three products you intend to buy in volume, typically USD 100–400 each including courier, and compare them against the written specification, not against the stand photo. If the sample passes, negotiate on the basis of confirmed quantities and get a pro-forma invoice with product, price, MOQ, lead time, packing and payment terms. Standard terms are a 30% deposit and 70% balance after a pre-shipment inspection; avoid paying 100% up front, and never pay to a personal account. The checklists for licence checks, audit visits and red flags are in the China furniture manufacturers guide, and the sequence from pro-forma invoice through production, inspection, shipping and import clearance is in how to buy furniture from China.

For custom pieces seen at a fair, expect a development cycle rather than a purchase: dimensioned shop drawing, material and sample approval, first-article approval, then batch production, with indicative lead times of 4–6 weeks for simple pieces, 6–8 for upholstery and stone, and 8–10 for full cabinetry, as described on the custom furniture development page. Inspection before the balance and export packing to a written standard are covered on the quality control and shipping page.

How Source Foshan helps around fair dates

Send your brief

Source Foshan is a local sourcing team based in Foshan and working in Dongguan; it is not a manufacturer, a marketplace or a broker directory. Around fair dates the team does three things. Before you arrive, it turns your fair shortlist and specification into a route of pre-booked showroom and factory appointments across Lecong, Longjiang and the specialist districts. During your visit, a guided buying day at USD 99 (private electric sedan, 1–2 guests) or USD 199 (business MPV, 2–6 guests) provides a sourcing expert, route planning, airport pickup, local transport, negotiation support and written notes with supplier records; hotels, meals and purchases are excluded. After you leave, the team verifies the suppliers you chose against its base of 300+ vetted showrooms, factories and workshops, compares quotes with transparent pricing and a stated service fee, places and confirms orders, tracks production with weekly photos, runs a 7-checkpoint inspection with a full pre-shipment photo and video report, packs to a written export standard and consolidates everything into one shipment. The team has delivered 60+ projects to 18 countries and shipped 120+ containers.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is CIFF Guangzhou free to attend?

CIFF admits trade visitors who pre-register online with passport and company details; pre-registered overseas buyers have generally not been charged, while on-site registration may carry a fee and requires proof of trade status. Rules can change by edition, so check the registration page on the organiser’s site before travelling. The fair is not open to the general public, and children under a stated age are not admitted.

What is the difference between CIFF and the Canton Fair for furniture?

CIFF is a dedicated furniture fair run by the furniture industry: home furniture in one phase, office and contract in another, with materials and machinery alongside. The Canton Fair is China’s general export fair across all industries; furniture is one section of its second phase, next to ceramics, building materials and housewares. Choose CIFF for depth in furniture, the Canton Fair for buying furniture together with other export goods.

Which fair is best for hotel and contract furniture?

CIFF Guangzhou Phase 2 in late March is the most focused, with office, hotel, public seating and commercial space in one phase. The Dongguan 3F fair in March adds export factories strong in hospitality casegoods. Both are within 1.5 hours of the dedicated hospitality showrooms in Foshan’s Lecong and Longjiang, where model rooms and finished guestroom sets can be inspected on any date.

Can I buy directly at a Chinese furniture fair and take goods home?

Not in practice. Exhibitors display samples and quote for production orders with minimums, usually per container or per 20–100 pieces of a model, for delivery in 30–90 days. Some stands sell display samples on the last afternoon, but export packing and shipping remain your responsibility. If you want to buy finished pieces you can inspect and ship in weeks, Foshan’s showrooms are the place, not the fair hall.

How far is Foshan from the Guangzhou fair venues?

The Canton Fair Complex and PWTC Expo in Pazhou are 40–60 minutes by car from Lecong or Chancheng, depending on traffic. Guangzhou Metro Line 7 runs from Guangzhou South into Shunde in about 25 minutes, and the Guangfo intercity metro links central Guangzhou with Chancheng in 40–60 minutes. Many buyers stay in Foshan and commute to the fair for one or two days.

Do I need a visa for a China furniture fair in 2027?

It depends on your passport and on whether the current visa-free scheme is extended past 31 December 2026. As of September 2026, citizens of 50 countries can enter visa-free for 30 days on business, and an extension is expected to be reviewed but not yet confirmed. US and Indian citizens need an M visa or must use the 240-hour transit rule. Check with the Chinese embassy about eight weeks before travel.

Are there furniture fairs in Foshan itself?

Yes. Longjiang town in Shunde hosts the Longjiang International Furniture Fair together with the Asian International Home Furnishing Industry Expo twice a year, in mid-March and in mid-to-late August, at the Shunde Qianjin Convention & Exhibition Center and the Asia International Exhibition & Trade Center. Foshan also hosts CeramBath for tiles and bathrooms in April and October. Lecong’s malls function as a permanent exhibition every other week of the year.

When should I place orders to receive goods before Chinese New Year?

Confirm orders and pay deposits by early to mid-October for delivery before the 2027 holiday, which begins on 6 February. Production of 30–60 days, inspection and packing of 1–2 weeks and ocean transit of 20–45 days leave little slack, and factories stop accepting new work for pre-holiday delivery from November. Freight rates and space also tighten in December and January, so early booking saves money as well as time.
