Whole-home furniture from Foshan: how a one-container project is run
How a whole house furniture package from Foshan is run: one spec per room, 2–3 quotes per line, one warehouse, one container — 54 items from 9 makers.
- Source Foshan’s whole-home residence in the Greater Bay Area combined 54 items from 9 suppliers in one container.
- A buyer who compared five vintage-style Foshan showrooms found many carried the same designs and could make pieces to order — so no single showroom was best for everything.
- The same buyer rated one large showroom’s prices as heavily padded and some chairs in another as probably bought in, not made on site.
- A buyer who travelled from Zhejiang to Shunde for a family home chose a showroom-factory that sold full sets or single pieces and let her inspect leather, wood and fillings.
- Deposits as low as 10% can start production on many of our orders; the balance is paid after you approve the inspection report.
A whole house furniture package from Foshan is run as one project: a room-by-room specification, two or three quotes per line from different makers, deposits and production tracked supplier by supplier, every piece inspected, then everything received into one Foshan warehouse, re-packed, labelled by room and shipped in a single container. One of our Greater Bay Area homes brought 54 items from 9 suppliers together this way.
What is a whole house furniture package from China?
It is every loose piece for a home — and often lighting, rugs, curtains and cabinetry — specified as one list, made by several factories and delivered together. Retail packages abroad often come from one brand’s range. A package sourced in Foshan is assembled item by item from the makers best suited to each piece: upholstery from one workshop, dining and casegoods from another, lighting from a third.
That is where the value comes from, and also the difficulty. Our whole-home sourcing service exists because coordinating nine suppliers is a different job from buying one sofa; the complete guide to furniture sourcing agents in China explains the wider role.
How is a one-container whole-home project run?
In eight stages, with the container date set by the slowest supplier.
- Brief: floor plan, room list, style references and budget.
- Specification: one line per piece — dimensions, materials, finish and colour codes — grouped by room.
- Quotes: two or three per line against that specification, from makers in Lecong, Longjiang, Shunde and Dongguan.
- Approval and deposits: you choose per line; deposits go to each supplier’s company account.
- Production: weekly photos and video from every workshop, with site checks on custom pieces.
- Inspection: every item checked against the signed specification; you approve the report before balances are paid.
- Consolidation: goods received into one Foshan warehouse, re-packed to export standard and labelled by room.
- Shipping: container booked, export documents and customs coordinated, delivery to the door.
The critical path is often one custom item — a large sofa or a stone-top table — so lead times are tracked line by line from the start.

A whole-home order is scheduled by its slowest supplier and judged by its worst match. Finding 54 pieces in Foshan is the easy part; making nine workshops finish in the same fortnight, in woods and leathers that look like one house, is the job. For an overseas buyer, that coordination is worth more than any single discount, because one late or mismatched line holds up — or spoils — the whole container.
Why furnish a whole house from Foshan rather than one showroom?
Because Foshan’s showrooms overlap heavily, and the best maker for your sofa is rarely the best for your dining table. A Guangdong buyer who reviewed five vintage-style Foshan showrooms found that many carried the same designs and could make them to order. The notes were specific: one showroom was good for leather sofas and beds in semi-aniline leather but dear for solid-wood dining tables; another was strongest in solid wood, with a factory that had more designs than the showroom; another had prices the buyer judged heavily padded; and some plastic chairs in one showroom did not appear to be made in-house.
A post by a buyer who travelled from Zhejiang to Shunde tells the other side. Wanting durable, low-odour furniture for a young family, she chose a showroom-factory that sold full sets or single pieces and let her examine leather, wood and fillings on site. The post is heavily tagged with the showroom’s name, so read it partly as promotion, but the reasoning — see the materials, then decide set or single piece — is sound.
For an overseas buyer, the lesson is to compare per line, not per showroom.

What does the comment section add?
The comments under the Zhejiang buyer’s post are brief, and what they leave out is as useful as what they say.
- Price, unanswered. Asked whether the vintage style is expensive, the reply was that there is something at every price — useful for tone, useless for a budget. Ask for a price per line.
- Own factory reassures. Several readers said a showroom with its own factory felt safer; that is reasonable, but it still needs checking against a specification.
- Distance as proof. Readers praised the buyer for travelling so far; overseas buyers can get the same assurance through inspection reports rather than a journey.
How much furniture fits in one container?
Whether a home fits in one 40-foot container depends on the list and the packing, not the floor area. A 40-foot high-cube box has roughly 76 m³ of internal space; irregular shapes, cartons and protective packing mean a furniture load uses less. Upholstery takes volume; casegoods and stone take weight. Our Greater Bay Area residence — 54 items from 9 suppliers — went in one container after consolidation and re-packing in our Foshan warehouse.
Your forwarder will confirm the right box once packed volumes are known; see our shipping and consolidation page and the step-by-step guide to buying furniture from China.

What does a whole-home furniture project from China cost?
Factory prices for each line, plus a sourcing fee, plus freight, duty and local delivery — each shown separately. Factory prices depend entirely on the specification; freight and duty depend on volume, destination and classification, so confirm them with your forwarder and customs broker at the time of ordering. Our fee is 3–5% of order value, agreed in writing and shown as a separate line; sourcing agent fees explained sets out how that compares with commission and mark-up models. How Source Foshan handles it
We turn your floor plan into a room-by-room specification, compare two or three quotes per line from vetted makers across Foshan and Dongguan, and track every supplier with weekly photos and video. Deposits — as low as 10% on many orders — go to each supplier’s company account. Every item is inspected before loading and you release balances only after approving the report. Goods are received into our Foshan consolidation warehouse, re-packed to export standard, labelled by room and shipped, with export documents, customs and door-to-door delivery coordinated. Our fee is 3–5% of order value, agreed in writing, and we take no supplier commissions.
If you want a designed, installed result rather than a sourcing project, we recommend Arcaya Living’s whole-home furnishing service: design direction, furniture, decor and custom cabinetry, with production follow-up, delivery and installation. Its published projects include kitchen and storage cabinetry in the Bay Area and San Jose.

FAQ
Can I buy a whole house of furniture from China?
Yes. Specify each piece, source each from the most suitable maker, inspect everything, and consolidate the goods in one warehouse before shipping them together, usually in one container.
How long does a whole-home furniture order from Foshan take?
It depends on the slowest item, often a custom sofa or stone piece. Production is tracked supplier by supplier, and the container is booked once every line has passed inspection.
Does a whole house of furniture fit in one container?
Often, yes, in a 40-foot container, but it depends on the list and the packed volume. One of our Greater Bay Area projects fitted 54 items from 9 suppliers into one container.
What is included in a whole-home sourcing service?
Typically specification, supplier comparison, ordering, production tracking, inspection, consolidation, export packing and shipping coordination. Design and installation may be separate services.
Is it cheaper to furnish a house from China?
It can be, but only a landed-cost comparison per line — factory price, fee, freight, duty and delivery — will tell you. Compare against local quotes for the same specification.
