The client sent reference images of pieces they could not buy at the quality or size they wanted: an upholstered statement chair, a console and a sculptural table. None existed as a catalogue item, so each had to be developed.

Each reference went to a different specialist: upholstery to a frame-and-cover workshop, the console to a joinery workshop, the table to a stone and metal fabricator. Every piece was turned into a dimensioned shop drawing, materials were confirmed from samples, and a first article was photographed and reviewed with the client before the remaining pieces were made.

Quality is built in through seven checkpoints rather than inspected once at the end: material selection, incoming inspection, production monitoring, assembly inspection, final quality check, packaging verification and shipment approval. Custom pieces were inspected against their own drawings rather than a supplier catalogue, so proportions, finish and hardware were checked to what the client had approved.
