Malta to Foshan: hotel furniture for a humid, coastal season
Malta has no direct route to China, and it is one of the few EU markets with a Type G plug. The island also has a long, humid summer that decides which finishes survive.

Getting here
Schedules change with the season — confirm the operating carrier before booking. The airport code is the part that stays put.

- Drop at your hotel — or straight to a showroom if you land early, with parking and tolls settled
Land at 07:25 after 16–18 h in the air, and you are in Lecong about an hour later.

A paid service, not a free transfer: one arrival, one vehicle, one drop-off. Parking included; tolls at cost. The credit is valid for six months from your arrival date.
Landing, then the transfer
Three doors into the Pearl River Delta. Which one you use is a fare decision; the ground leg is what moves your first showroom.
Do not plan on the Hong Kong ferry. The Shunde Port crossing stopped on 16 July 2026 and has not restarted. Any itinerary built on that ferry is already broken.
The days on the ground
Four days is the working minimum for anything beyond a single category. Appointments are booked before you land, and each evening you get a written recap of what you saw and what is still open.
- Day 1
Land and calibrate
Land and settle. An hour in Lecong is enough to reset your expectations before buying
- Day 2
Lecong showrooms
Yesterday was calibration. Today is the shortlist: Lecong, against your own list, priced line by line
- Day 3
Factories behind the malls
Today belongs to the workshops, in Longjiang or Nanzhuang
- Day 4
Samples and sign-off
Samples, custom pieces, then sign off and leave with a specification

Where the days are actually spent
Hotel and resort briefs need the contract line and the factory behind it in the same day. Outdoor pieces are judged on material and finish, which is easier at the factory.
Lecong 乐从
The malls. Room sets, retail-facing prices, and enough sofas in one morning to make a shortlist from.
Longjiang 龙江
Factory town for upholstery. The material markets behind it are where a showroom price stops being a mystery.
Dongguan 东莞
The export factories, 90 minutes away — for buyers who need a plant that already builds to a foreign standard.

Where to stay
Where you sleep decides how much of the day you spend in a car.

What Maltese buyers get caught on
- 01Malta is an EU market: CE where a directive applies, EUTR timber due diligence, 18% VAT on import.
- 02Type G plugs and 230 V — the UK pattern, not the EU one. Specify it per item; an EU-spec fixture arrives unusable.
- 03Marsaxlokk is the container port. Island logistics add a road leg and, for some properties, a crane or a lift restriction.
- 04Humidity and salt are the specification: stainless hardware, sealed edges, and outdoor frames that survive a long season.
- 05Hotel and apartment orders are seasonal and repeat annually. A finish that holds across refurbishments is worth more than a discount.
Practical specification checks, not certification advice. Confirm current requirements with your importer or testing body.

Questions Maltese buyers ask
How do I get from Malta to Foshan?
No nonstop. Malta connects via Istanbul, Doha or Rome, then Guangzhou — 16 to 18 hours.
Do Maltese passports need a visa for China?
No, up to 30 days. Malta is on China's unilateral visa-free list, currently valid to 31 December 2026.
Why does the plug matter here?
Malta uses Type G, the UK pattern. An EU-spec fixture will not plug in, whatever the certificate says.
Do island deliveries cost more?
Yes, and some properties need a crane or have lift restrictions. Confirm access before the loading plan is fixed.
How many days do I need?
Four, usually covering a hotel or a set of apartments.
