What Kenyan buyers get caught on
- 01KEBS conformity is checked through the PVoC programme, and the certificate is issued before shipment. Without it the goods can be held at Mombasa.
- 02An Import Declaration Form is part of the file and ties the shipment to the importer. Confirm who raises it before the goods leave Foshan.
- 0316% VAT on import plus duty by commodity code, and both are assessed on the CIF value rather than the ex-works price.
- 04240 V, Type G. The UK pattern at a higher voltage.
- 05Mombasa is the port, and the inland leg to Nairobi is long. The standard gauge railway has shortened it, but it is still a scheduled cost — quote it separately.
