What Nigerian buyers get caught on
- 01SONCAP is the gate. A Product Certificate is issued before shipment and a Certificate of Conformity is raised for each consignment; the first cannot be skipped to save time.
- 02Form M and a bank-backed payment route are part of the import file. Confirm who holds them, and with which bank, before the deposit is agreed.
- 037.5% VAT on import plus duty by commodity code, and the assessment is examined closely.
- 04230 V, Type D and G. Type G is standard in newer builds; Type D survives from older installations and cannot be assumed interchangeable.
- 05Lagos is the port. Apapa and Tin Can are congested; the inland leg is short but clearance can outlast the sailing, so build weeks into the delivery date.
