Iceland to Foshan: a climate specification before a price one
There is no direct route from Reykjavík to southern China, and Iceland buys in small volumes at high cost. That makes the trip a specification exercise: one container, chosen well, with finishes that survive a hard climate.

A paid service, not a free transfer: one arrival, one vehicle, one drop-off. Parking included; tolls at cost. The credit is valid for six months from your arrival date.
Landing, then the transfer
Every route ends the same way: an hour on the ground between the arrivals hall and Lecong.
Do not plan on the Hong Kong ferry. The Shunde Port passenger service was suspended on 16 July 2026 with no restart date announced. Older guides still recommend it.
The days on the ground
Four days is the working minimum for anything beyond a single category. Appointments are booked before you land, and each evening you get a written recap of what you saw and what is still open.
- Day 1
Land and calibrate
Arrival day. Transfer in, check in, and walk one mall so the prices stop being abstract
- Day 2
Lecong showrooms
Showroom day in Lecong — two or three options a line, every one photographed and priced
- Day 3
Factories behind the malls
Today belongs to the workshops, in Longjiang or Nanzhuang
- Day 4
Samples and sign-off
Samples and the custom list, then sign-off before the airport run

Where the days are actually spent
Upholstery is where showroom prices and factory prices diverge most, so both ends are worth seeing.
Lecong 乐从
Where the trip starts: room-set showrooms, a hundred options before lunch, prices you can argue with.
Longjiang 龙江
Sofa and upholstery factories. Come here after the malls, when you want to know what the price is made of.

Where to stay
Where you sleep decides how much of the day you spend in a car.
Sofitel Foshan 佛山罗浮宫索菲特酒店

What Icelandic buyers get caught on
- 01Iceland is in the EEA but outside the EU. CE marking applies where a directive covers the product; the customs entry is Icelandic.
- 0224% VAT on import plus duty, and freight is expensive because of the distance and the transhipment. Packing density has an outsized effect on the landed cost.
- 03230 V, Type C and F. Icelandic interiors combine high humidity and dry heating, which is hard on veneer and on solid-wood joints.
- 04Reykjavík receives through transhipment, usually via Rotterdam, Hamburg or a Scandinavian port. Ask for the door-delivered price, not the port price.
- 05Small volumes mean the factory may treat the order as a sample run. Confirm the minimum order quantity per line before assuming a container.
Practical specification checks, not certification advice. Confirm current requirements with your importer or testing body.

Questions Icelandic buyers ask
How do I get from Iceland to Foshan?
No nonstop. Reykjavík connects via Copenhagen, Helsinki or London, then Guangzhou — 16 to 20 hours door to door.
Do Icelandic passports need a visa for China?
No, up to 30 days. Iceland is on China's unilateral visa-free list, currently valid to 31 December 2026.
Which port serves Iceland?
Transhipment through Rotterdam, Hamburg or Scandinavia. Ask for a delivered price rather than a port-to-port quote.
What finish survives the climate?
Ask about humidity and heating cycles. Veneer and solid-wood joints fail first in a wet-then-dry interior.
How many days do I need?
Four, planned around one container's worth of goods rather than a whole house.

If the delivery address is not the one you searched for, start with a market next door.
