What Egyptian buyers get caught on
- 01The ACID number has to be raised before the goods ship, and the customs file is strict about matching it to the invoice and the bill of lading.
- 0214% VAT on import plus duty by commodity code, and the ACID file has to match the invoice value exactly.
- 03220 V, Type C and F. European pattern, and the coastal resorts often run on a generator-backed supply, which is worth mentioning to the factory.
- 04Alexandria and Port Said are the ports. Clearance depends on the file being consistent; a mismatch between the ACID, the invoice and the packing list is the usual cause of delay.
- 05Egyptian buyers often resell into the region. If that is the plan, the labelling has to survive more than one set of import rules.
