What Ghanaian buyers get caught on
- 01Ghana Standards Authority conformity applies to a range of imports, and the certificate is checked at clearance. Confirm the scope before production.
- 0215% VAT on import plus duty by commodity code, and the levy stack can include more than the two headline rates.
- 03230 V, Type G. Type G is standard, and Accra's newer apartment blocks specify it throughout.
- 04Tema is the port, with a short inland leg to Accra. Shared containers are common, so the packing list has to separate each buyer's goods.
- 05Mixed containers of furniture, tile and sanitaryware are the norm. Plan the weight, because a 40HQ caps around 26–28 tonnes even when the volume looks free.
