Uruguay to Foshan: the long route, and choosing a partner rather than a product
Montevideo has no nonstop to China, so a Uruguayan trip is rare and deliberate. The market is small and high-income, and one villa order can justify choosing a supplier for the long term rather than buying a single piece.

Getting here
Schedules change with the season — confirm the operating carrier before booking. The airport code is the part that stays put.

- Drop at your hotel — or straight to a showroom if you land early, with parking and tolls settled
A 11:20 touchdown puts you at the hotel before lunch, with the afternoon free for a first visit.

A paid service, not a free transfer: one arrival, one vehicle, one drop-off. Parking included; tolls at cost. The credit is valid for six months from your arrival date.
Landing, then the transfer
Foshan has no international airport. The gateway you pick decides how much of your first day survives the landing.
Do not plan on the Hong Kong ferry. The Shunde Port crossing stopped on 16 July 2026 and has not restarted. Any itinerary built on that ferry is already broken.
The days on the ground
Five days is the useful minimum for a whole home or a hotel brief. Appointments are booked before you land, and each evening you get a written recap of what you saw and what is still open.
- Day 1
Land and calibrate
Land and settle. An hour in Lecong is enough to reset your expectations before buying
- Day 2
Lecong showrooms
Showroom day in Lecong — two or three options a line, every one photographed and priced
- Day 3
Longjiang factories
Factory day in Longjiang. The same sofa, without the room set around it
- Day 4
Custom work and samples
Custom pieces, cabinetry and building materials; evening recap with written notes

Field noteIf the trip is only furniture, stay in Longjiang: you can cover several factories a day. Add Lecong if tiles are on the list.可乐家(装修记录), Xiaohongshu

Where the days are actually spent
Upholstery is where showroom prices and factory prices diverge most, so both ends are worth seeing.
Lecong 乐从
Where the trip starts: room-set showrooms, a hundred options before lunch, prices you can argue with.
Longjiang 龙江
Factory town for upholstery. The material markets behind it are where a showroom price stops being a mystery.

Where to stay
Where you sleep decides how much of the day you spend in a car.

What Uruguayan buyers get caught on
- 01Uruguay applies 22% VAT on import plus duty by commodity code — one of the higher rates in South America.
- 02Uruguayan standards and Spanish labelling apply to consumer products. Confirm the scope with your broker.
- 03220 V, Type C and L. The Italian-style Type L appears alongside the EU pattern.
- 04Montevideo is the port, with a short inland leg. Volume is small, so consolidation with an Argentine or Brazilian order is sometimes worth exploring.
- 05Buyers here travel to choose a partner, not a product. A supplier who can repeat a specification across years is worth more than the cheapest first container.
Practical specification checks, not certification advice. Confirm current requirements with your importer or testing body.
