Malaysia to Foshan: a nonstop so short the trip can be one night
Kuala Lumpur flies nonstop to Guangzhou and Shenzhen in under four hours, which makes a one-night round trip possible. Malaysian buyers often compare Foshan against local workshops, and they usually speak the factory's language.

Landing, then the transfer
Every route ends the same way: an hour on the ground between the arrivals hall and Lecong.
Do not plan on the Hong Kong ferry. The Shunde Port crossing stopped on 16 July 2026 and has not restarted. Any itinerary built on that ferry is already broken.
The days on the ground
Three days covers one or two categories. Add a day for cabinetry. Appointments are booked before you land, and each evening you get a written recap of what you saw and what is still open.
- Day 1
Land and start
Land in the morning, transfer, and take two Lecong showrooms before dinner
- Day 2
Longjiang factories
Longjiang today — frames, foam and the material markets behind the malls
- Day 3
Samples and out
Morning on samples and custom pieces; the afternoon is the airport or one more category
Field noteIf the trip is only furniture, stay in Longjiang: you can cover several factories a day. Add Lecong if tiles are on the list.可乐家(装修记录), Xiaohongshu
Field noteIn the malls, open about 40% below the ask and expect to close near 70%. Factory shops settle around 90%.老杨聊皮料, Xiaohongshu
Where the days are actually spent
Upholstery is where showroom prices and factory prices diverge most, so both ends are worth seeing.

What Malaysian buyers get caught on
- 01Malaysia uses SST rather than GST, and furniture is generally not subject to sales tax at the same rate. Confirm the current classification with your broker rather than assuming a VAT equivalent.
- 02SIRIM certification applies to regulated electrical products. A fixture without it cannot be sold through most Malaysian channels.
- 03240 V, Type G. UK-pattern sockets at a higher voltage than the UK.
- 04Port Klang is the gateway, with a short inland leg. Consolidation with Singapore orders is common because the two markets are close.
- 05Chinese-language negotiation is usually direct, which shortens the comparison. The written specification still decides the price.
Practical specification checks, not certification advice. Confirm current requirements with your importer or testing body.

Questions Malaysian buyers ask
How long is the flight from Malaysia to Foshan?
About three and a half to four hours nonstop to Guangzhou or Shenzhen, then roughly an hour by road to Lecong.
Do Malaysian passports need a visa for China?
No. Malaysia travels under a mutual visa exemption for up to 30 days.
Is it SST or GST?
SST. Furniture classification decides the rate, so confirm with your broker rather than assuming a VAT figure.
Can I do this in one night?
Yes, for a single showroom and a factory. Two nights is more comfortable.
Do I need SIRIM?
For regulated electrical products, yes.
