What Japanese buyers get caught on
- 01Japan has no import duty on most furniture, but 10% consumption tax applies. The landed cost is mostly freight and tax, which makes consolidation the lever.
- 02PSE marking applies to electrical goods, and the diamond or round PSE depends on the product category. A fixture without it cannot be sold in Japan.
- 03100 V, Type A and B. This is the only major market at 100 V — an export fixture built to 220 V is unusable, and relabelling it is not a fix.
- 04Japanese buyers expect a dimension drawing before a sample, and a sample before a deposit. Budget an extra cycle for both.
- 05Quality is judged on the joint, the seam and the edge. A cheaper foam or a thinner veneer is noticed at the first inspection, not at the price stage.

How long is the flight from Japan to Foshan?

Do Japanese passports need a visa for China?
No, up to 30 days. Japan is on China's unilateral visa-free list, currently valid to 31 December 2026.
Why does 100 V matter so much?
Japan runs at 100 V with Type A/B sockets. An export fixture at 220 V cannot be adapted by changing the plug.
Do I need PSE marking?
For electrical goods, yes. The category decides whether it is the round or diamond mark.
How many days do I need?
