Foshan furniture market guide: every major mall, what it sells and who it suits

Foshan's furniture market spans Lecong's mall strip and Longjiang's factory showrooms. Which malls suit which buyer, what things cost, how to plan 2–3 days.

In short

  • Foshan’s retail furniture trade runs along one main road through Lecong; the factory showrooms that make much of the stock are in Longjiang, about 20 minutes’ drive away.
  • The most-saved Xiaohongshu route through Foshan’s independent showrooms lists 14 stops in a single day and has more than 5,400 likes.
  • Buyers report the same sofa quoted at RMB 18,000 in Shunlian North and RMB 8,000 in Shunlian South.
  • Most independent showrooms expect an appointment; walk-ins are usually accepted on the day, but the import floor of the largest mall is appointment-only.
  • In the comments, a Longjiang maker with ten years in the trade says Lecong is mostly showroom intermediaries and Longjiang is where the factories are.

The Foshan furniture market is not one building but a cluster: a strip of malls along the main road through Lecong, trade-style halls such as Shunlian South and Dongheng, and factory showrooms in nearby Longjiang. Chinese buyers typically spend one day looking in the big Lecong malls and a second day ordering in value halls or factory showrooms; overseas buyers should do the same, but against a written specification.

What is the Foshan furniture market, exactly?

It is a district, not a mall: dozens of furniture malls line the main road through Lecong, and hundreds of factory showrooms sit in the surrounding towns of Shunde and Nanhai. International buyers searching for “the Foshan furniture market” usually mean Lecong, which Chinese buyers treat as the place to see everything. The makers behind much of what Lecong sells are spread across Longjiang (upholstery), Dongguan (export casegoods) and smaller towns.

Think of it as three layers: showcase malls (the Louvre mall, Shunlian North), value halls (Shunlian South, Dongheng, Nanhua) and factory showrooms (mostly outside Lecong). Each layer has different prices, different sellers and different paperwork. Our Lecong market map walks the road mall by mall.

Which Foshan furniture mall suits which buyer?

Use the showcase malls to learn, the value halls to compare prices, and factory showrooms to specify and order. The table summarises what Chinese buyers on Xiaohongshu report about each layer.

Where What buyers find there Best for Watch out for
Louvre Furniture Mall An import floor with international brands; upper-mid domestic brands below Seeing originals and the top of the market Appointment-only import floor; one buyer was quoted a RMB 200,000 minimum and about eight months for non-stock orders
Shunlian North Dressed brand showrooms, full room sets Choosing a style and a benchmark piece The highest tags on the strip
Shunlian South, Dongheng and Nanhua Single-category shops, many look-alike designs Price comparison against a spec Look-alikes built to a lower grade; touts at the gates
Independent and factory showrooms (Lecong edges, Longjiang, Nanhai) Mid-century, wabi-sabi, Bauhaus and French styles; some with workshops downstairs Ordering with materials written into the order Appointments; stock varies by season

The difference between the layers is not only price. It is who your contract is with and what they will write down — which matters more when you are ordering from abroad.

Our view

The Foshan market rewards buyers who separate looking from ordering. Chinese homeowners do it by moving from Shunlian North to Shunlian South or from Lecong to Longjiang; overseas buyers have to do it on paper, because the day you are not in the room is the day the cheaper version gets built. A photo of a showroom sofa is a style reference, not a specification.

What does a realistic day in the Foshan furniture market look like?

A full day covers roughly ten showrooms by car; a first visit usually needs two to three days. The most-saved route on Xiaohongshu (5,400+ likes) chains 14 independent showrooms from the Guangzhou side to Longjiang without doubling back — starting near Foshan West station, moving through Lecong’s showroom parks and ending at a factory in Longjiang where the author placed her order. Each hop is 3–14 km, or 10–25 minutes.

Her notes are useful for the pattern rather than the shop list: most stops are rated by style (mid-century, Bauhaus, American vintage, French) and by price band, and the stops she liked most were the ones with a production workshop behind the showroom. A buyer who flew in from Chongqing needed four days; a buyer from the same province managed Lecong in one day and Longjiang the next. Our 3-day itinerary is built on the same logic, and where to stay matters more than it seems.

What does the comment section add?

The comment threads under the two most-saved route posts are mostly practical — and a few of them change the plan.

  • “Lecong is intermediaries, Longjiang is factories.” A commenter who says they have made furniture in Longjiang for almost ten years notes that most Lecong shops are showroom intermediaries, and that buyers who come from Lecong often tell them it was expensive.
  • Appointments, but flexible. Readers ask repeatedly whether the showrooms need booking; the author’s answer is that almost all do, but booking the same day usually works.
  • Quality disputes happen in malls too. One buyer describes a RMB 7,000 sofa with badly matched grain, a coffee table with a visible flaw and a leather bed delivered in the wrong colour from a big-name brand — refused on delivery, with no reply yet from the shop.
  • Whole-home help is hard to find. A reader asks who can coordinate everything; the reply is that custom-cabinet firms bundle soft furnishings only when they are also doing the renovation.

How much cheaper is furniture in the Foshan market?

Cheaper than retail abroad, but not always cheaper than Chinese online prices — and the gap between malls on the same road is as large as the gap with home. A buyer from Guangdong writes that pieces she liked in Shunlian North and the Louvre mall were dearer than online listings, and that one sofa quoted at RMB 18,000 in Shunlian North came down to RMB 8,000 in Shunlian South. Her advice is to open negotiations about 40% below the tag and to ask for the price for ordering today.

Treat those numbers as one buyer’s experience, not a price list. Our Foshan market price guide collects what buyers actually paid by category, and the Shunlian North–South analysis explains why the same shape can be a different product.

What should you check before paying in a Foshan furniture mall?

Check materials, freight and the name on the sales slip — the three places buyers say they lost money. The same Guangdong buyer lists three checks that match what we see:

  • Materials: ask whether a sofa is leather on every surface or only on the seat and back; look for foam that recovers when pressed; count bed slats (she suggests gaps of no more than 5 cm); for stone tables she recommends at least 12 mm thickness.
  • Freight and installation: freight is charged by volume, and carriers recommended by the shop are not always the cheapest; agree installation and write “payment after acceptance” into the order for local deliveries.
  • Extras: spare cushions and covers are easiest to get at the moment of ordering.

For overseas orders the list is longer — export packing, HS codes, inspection before the balance — and it is covered in our paperwork checklist.

When is the best time to visit the Foshan furniture market?

Avoid the four weeks around Chinese New Year and the busiest holiday weekends; spring and autumn are easiest. A buyer who visited in January found some showrooms half-empty because stock had been bought out before the holiday, and was told displays would be complete again in March. Showrooms are crowded on May Day and National Day holidays, when the popular routes above were written. Around the two big furniture fairs in Guangzhou and Shanghai, factories are busy but also show their newest designs — see when to go and fairs versus the markets.

How Source Foshan handles it

We use the Foshan market the way good local buyers do: the showcase malls as a reference library, the value halls and factory showrooms for quotes. For each item on your list we write one specification, collect two or three quotes against it from Lecong, Longjiang and beyond, and show you the differences side by side. Deposits go to the supplier’s company account, production is photographed and filmed, and every piece is inspected before loading; you release the balance only after approving the report. Our fee — 3–5% of order value — is a separate line agreed before any factory is contacted. If you want to walk the market yourself, a guided day costs USD 150, or USD 250 with a car.

Prefer to choose from a ready catalogue?

If you would rather see a curated range before anyone books a flight, we recommend Arcaya Living: more than 10,000 pieces sourced to confirmed specifications, organised by room and by style, with a three-minute style quiz to narrow it down.

FAQ

Where is the Foshan furniture market?

Mainly in Lecong, a town in Shunde district, Foshan, where dozens of furniture malls line the main road. Factory showrooms are spread across nearby Longjiang and parts of Nanhai. Guangzhou Baiyun airport is about an hour away by car.

How many days do I need for the Foshan furniture market?

Plan two to three days for a first visit: one to see the showcase malls, one or two for value halls and factory showrooms. Buyers who try to do everything in one day usually only see one layer of the market.

Do I need an appointment to visit Foshan furniture showrooms?

Most independent and factory showrooms expect one, though same-day booking usually works. The import floor of the Louvre furniture mall is appointment-only and does not allow photos.

Is furniture in the Foshan market cheaper than online?

Not always. Buyers report that the showcase malls can be dearer than online listings, while value halls and factory showrooms are cheaper for comparable designs. The real advantage is range and the ability to specify materials.

Can I buy from the Foshan furniture market without visiting?

Yes, if someone on the ground writes a specification for each piece, compares quotes against it and inspects the goods before you pay the balance. That is what a sourcing agent such as Source Foshan does.
