Does every furniture order need SONCAP?
Only products that SON regulates. The regulated list can change, so we check your item list and HS codes against the current position before you order.
Can the certificate be done after the goods ship?
No. SONCAP is a pre-shipment scheme and cannot be processed once the consignment has left the country of origin. SON charges a SONCAP Default of 20% of the CIF value or 2 million naira, whichever is higher.
Who opens the Form M?
You do, through an authorised dealer bank. For SON-regulated goods the Product Certificate is needed to open it. We prepare the item list so the bank, SON and customs see the same figures.
How long does the certificate take?
SON states that product certificates are generated within 96 hours, or 24 hours when documents and test reports are submitted promptly and the products comply. Test reports and samples come first, so plan it ahead of production.

Yes. Supplier comparisons, photo and video reviews, samples and written approvals all work from a clear brief. A Foshan visit can be planned around the same room schedule if you travel.
