Then ask for photos and video at the bare-frame stage \u2014 the one moment when curve, frame and fill can still be seen and fixed.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"what-does-foam-density-actually-tell-you\">What does foam density actually tell you?<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Density (written D28, D35, etc.) is the foam&#8217;s weight in kilograms per cubic metre \u2014 useful, but not enough on its own.<\/strong> Three sofa makers&#8217; posts on Xiaohongshu, with 480+ comments between them, agree on the basics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>D-numbers are weight.<\/b> D28 means 28 kg per m\u00b3. Around D28 and above is usually called high density; seats use the densest foam, backs and arms softer grades such as D22.<\/li>\n<li><b>High density is not high resilience.<\/b> A dense foam can still recover slowly. One maker&#8217;s rule of thumb: press it, and good seat foam is back in shape within about three seconds.<\/li>\n<li><b>Weight can be faked.<\/b> Some suppliers add filler powder to foam to raise its weight and apparent density; it feels heavy and collapses early.<\/li>\n<li><b>Look and smell.<\/b> Fine, even pores and no powdery residue are good signs; a strong smell points to cheap chemistry or glue between cheap layers.<\/li>\n<li><b>\u201cOnly quoting 45D or 50D is misleading.\u201d<\/b> One maker&#8217;s point: a good seat combines foams \u2014 high-resilience or dense foam in the seat, softer grades in backs and arms, sometimes latex or memory foam \u2014 so one number never describes the whole sofa. It is exactly why the checks belong at the bare-frame and cushion stage, on video, before upholstery.<\/li><li><b>Prices are hidden.<\/b> Under the curved-sofa post, nearly every comment is simply \u201cprice?\u201d \u2014 including readers in New Zealand and Korea \u2014 and every answer is \u201csent by DM\u201d. Opaque pricing is normal on the platform; it is also why a written quote per specification matters.<\/li><li><b>Premium is expected.<\/b> Asked \u201cisn&#8217;t it expensive?\u201d, the maker replies: \u201ca little\u201d. A well-built curved sofa is not a bargain item anywhere.<\/li><\/ul>\n<div class=\"sf-callout\"><b>Our view for export orders<\/b><p>Ask for densities per part (seat, back, arms) in writing, one cut-through photo of a finished cushion, and \u2014 if you are shipping to the UK, California or another market with furniture fire rules \u2014 the foam and fabric fire certificates before production.
