Built that way over an 85 cm worktop, with the hood&#8217;s fume panel open, only 47 cm of clear height remained, 42 cm at the pan support. The cabinets were raised 12 cm, the most a socket above allowed, and the doors and an inner cabinet shortened. One commenter recalled the hood maker&#8217;s own page giving a different figure from the \u201cstandard\u201d the designer insisted on.<\/p>\n<p>Abroad the risk doubles, because Chinese factories default to Chinese appliance clearances. Send the model number and installation manual of every built-in appliance before drawings start, and have your installer confirm clearances and connections against local codes. The Shaanxi kitchen needed only a clearance figure on the drawing. <b>For an imported kitchen, the cheapest insurance is a drawing that names every appliance, every service point and every board \u2014 signed before the first panel is cut.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"why-do-some-cabinets-fail-around-the-sink-and-hob\">Why do some cabinets fail around the sink and hob?<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Because the details that keep water, oil and heat out of the board are small, cheap and easy to omit from a quote.<\/strong> A Hunan kitchen designer&#8217;s ten-point list is mostly about water and heat: a stainless or stone shelf under a built-in hob to catch oil and debris; mould-resistant modified-silane sealant instead of ordinary silicone, which blackens; an undermount sink; a single sink at least 18 cm deep; and, on a flat wall, sealing the worktop straight to the wall rather than fitting an upstand that traps dirt.<\/p>\n<p>Particleboard swells if water reaches an unsealed edge, so most Chinese notes recommend plywood for the sink cabinet at least \u2014 see <a href=\"\/ar\/%d9%85%d8%af%d9%88%d9%86%d8%a9\/%d8%ae%d8%a7%d9%85%d8%a7%d8%aa-%d8%a3%d9%84%d9%88%d8%a7%d8%ad-%d9%88%d8%ad%d8%af%d8%a7%d8%aa-%d8%a7%d9%84%d9%85%d8%b7%d8%a8%d8%ae\/\">\u062e\u0627\u0645\u0627\u062a \u0623\u0644\u0648\u0627\u062d \u0648\u062d\u062f\u0627\u062a \u0627\u0644\u0645\u0637\u0628\u062e<\/a>.
